The majority of wildfires in Oregon are human-caused—most frequently from escaped debris burning. Instead of burning your yard and woody debris, consider using alternate disposal methods such as composting, processing it into woodchips, or hauling the debris to a recycler such as JO-GRO in Merlin.

Wildfire is a fact of life in the Illinois Valley. Take steps to prepare your family and your property in case wildfires arrive. Meet with your family to decide what to do and where to go if wildfires threaten your area. Follow the steps listed below to protect your family, home, and property.
